To awake in a strange land, edged by the sea, at a time when night is swollen with dawn and almost about to burst and to see a small boat with its smaller creature who pulled a fish net through it all, was an honor, as is my haiku that you chose to pair so semiotically with the photographic art work of Robert Chang Chien, so honored. Thank you! You have created a third thing, a Rilkean “ding” with your posting, a shasai it’s called in Japanese, when a haiku and photograph come together . . . .

(My last name would be correctly spelled, Fleischer. The / c / often forgotten by many.)

I’m sorry to have written your surname badly (I never noticed it) but I immediately corrected it. I didn’t know there was a name to indicate a haiku accompanied by an image, interesting and beautiful the word in Japanese. Thank you, my dear. For me it’s is always an honor to have you here.

Haiga is Japanese for visual art and haiku coming together. I’m sure there are more pairings and Japanese words for them that I am unaware of . . .

BTW, you have always spelled my surname correctly except in this instance. Thank you for correcting it and let me have the last word on feeling honored to be featured at your Vengodalmare, which I treasure.

Strange, curious and funny what you say, that I have always pronounced correctly your surname, except now, when I made a post about your poetic work 🙂 I’ll have to think about it, but maybe the reason was simply my tiredness given the late hour in which
I was on the blog .. it was a strange night, full of stagnant electricity.., Somerset Maugham would say.
